Written by camstark - Tue, 30 Jun 2015 17:54:07 +0000

The iRacing Pro Mazda championship headed to South America for Round 2 of the season. Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace – Interlagos – was in store for the drivers: 15 turns over the 4.309km layout awaited them over the course of the 18 lap event. To give an insight as to how competitive the field would prove to be: the #17/17 car had an iRating of 3500 (with the highest being in the 6500s). There were two Pro/WCS drivers as well as a previous Star Mazda champion and last season’s runner up; no one could blink an eye with a field that showed as much potential as this! Sebastian Job took position by just over a tenth from Justin Brunner by setting the benchmark time of a 1.32.558. A notable name [...]

Written by DavidP - Tue, 30 Jun 2015 15:58:19 +0000

Week Two of the NASCAR Tour Modified Series schedule brings the Modifieds to Gateway Motorsports Park. This 1.25 mile long race track is a unique oval with Turns One and Two being very different than Turns Three and Four. This is the biggest track the Tour Modifieds will be visiting this season and will pose a very different challenge then the short tracks the sim racers are used to. Gateway may be the largest track on the schedule but the sim racing in the days leading up to the Thursday Night Feature was close and intense:  The ten official races in the week saw six different winners. Thursday night’s feature had 26 entries for two splits of 13 sim racers apiece, with the top split registering a Strength of [...]

Johnston Doubles Down in Vegas

Written by DavidP - Tue, 30 Jun 2015 14:31:06 +0000

When the ITSR Power Series goes to Las Vegas, it’s a smart idea to bet on green.  That’s because the series’ races at the mile-and-a-half desert oval tend to have long green flag runs with competitive sim racing and varied strategies throughout the field.  That was again the case last Sunday night in the Las Vegas 250. Before the race, the Fast 5 qualifying format gave the top five qualifiers an extra five minutes to improve their times and go for the pole.  Provisional polesitter Jeff S. Davis couldn’t improve his time of a 29.271s, but Timothy Johnston found some extra speed and ran a 29.248s to grab the pole position.  Brian Motisko, Scott Simley, Davis, and Adam Hallock rounded out the top five on the starting grid. Johnston jumped [...]

Written by Paul Slavonik - Mon, 29 Jun 2015 19:30:04 +0000

The Blancpain Endurance Series wraps up an amazing week of sim racing as teams from all over the world competed on the hills and long straights of Road America. For three-hours, drivers negotiated massive fields of sometimes over 50 cars on the track at once. In the top Strength of Field race (SoF 2977), it proved to be no easy task as only seven of the 51 cars remained on the lead lap at the conclusion of the online event. When the virtual dust had settled, however, it was Glacier Racing who found themselves on top once again. Glacier takes top honors Coming off of an impressive win last week at Zandvoort, the Finnish duo of Glacier Racing, Aleksi Elomaa and Joni Hagner, started their Ford GT GT3 on [...]

Written by DavidP - Mon, 29 Jun 2015 15:56:24 +0000

Get out your virtual sunscreen and beach towels!  This week the NASCAR Camping World Truck series heads to South Florida and the challenging 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway. In the virtual world we may only be in Week 2 of Season 3, but in the real world Homestead has been home to the season- ending festivities for all three of NASCAR’s top series since 2002.  A year later the track was reconfigured from a mostly flat-cornered surface into one with variable banking from 18-20 degrees.  The track now features multi- groove racing that produces speed not only tightly hugged to the apron’s white line, but a middle groove and — if your bowl of Wheaties that morning was big enough — right next to the outside wall. In return, there have [...]
